Church Nursery Volunteer Schedule Template
Rooms by age band, a line per volunteer, and a column for who actually showed. Print it for the check-in desk this Sunday.
8 sections · 26 numbered lines · no account, no download, no email address
Nursery is the hardest room in the building to staff and the one you can least afford to leave thin. Ratios are not a preference — most churches hold themselves to something like one adult per four infants and one per six toddlers, and two unrelated adults in every room regardless of headcount.
This sheet is laid out the way a nursery coordinator actually thinks: by room, then by service, with the minimum written on the line so nobody has to remember it. Print a month at a time and keep it at the check-in desk.
Print it as it is, or change it on paper.

Volunteers in children's areas must have a current background check on file. Two unrelated adults in every room at all times.
Free printable sheet from shiftsteward.com — volunteer scheduling for schools and churches.
Four things that decide whether it works.
Write the minimum on the sheet, not in your head
Each room heading has space for the ratio you hold to. When the third line is still blank on Saturday, the sheet is telling you something a full-looking list would not.
Two unrelated adults, always
Whatever your child-protection policy says, the sheet should make a single-adult room visibly wrong. Keep at least two lines per room even for the quiet service.
Keep a cleared list beside it
Only volunteers who have completed your background check should be writing on this sheet. The fastest version of that is a highlighted roster taped next to it — a name that isn't on the roster doesn't go on the line.
Mark who came, the same morning
The last column is the one everyone skips and the one that matters in June, when you are trying to work out who has quietly carried the nursery all year.
Paper works until the Saturday-night text. If you find yourself rebuilding this sheet every week and chasing the gaps by phone, the same rotation runs online: restricted to your cleared volunteers, reminded automatically, and re-opened to the right people when someone drops.
Keep the sheet. Lose the Thursday phone calls.
A dollar to try the online version for a week. Your volunteers never pay anything.
